Ludwig van Beethoven. Symphony 9 The Ode to Joy was written in D minor and as the title suggests, it reflected the composer’s joy (British Periodicals in the Creative Arts, 2007). Symphony 9 has been an all time favorite in the modern period. The movie production industry has used the composition as a sound track, examples being the Ace Ventura Pet Detective, The Apt Pupil, A Clockwork.
Even in the second half of the 19th century, Beethoven still directly inspired both conservatives (such as Brahms, who, like Beethoven, fundamentally stayed within the confines of Classical form) and radicals (such as Wagner, who viewed the Ninth Symphony as a harbinger of his own vision of a total art work, integrating vocal and instrumental music with the other arts).
